Emissions Reduction Alberta (ERA) and SDTC are offering a unique joint funding opportunity to Canadian clean technology innovators and entrepreneurs. There is up to $40 million in funding available, with a maximum of $10 million available to individual GHG reducing technologies from Canadian Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises that are deployable in Alberta.
ERA and SDTC have reviewed submissions and shortlisted projects. We are now inviting funding proposals that are best suited for this opportunity to provide additional details as we move to the next stage of the process.
ERA and SDTC invited submissions for this joint funding opportunity on February 25, 2016. It is for Canadian companies fewer than 500 employees, and less than $50 million in annual gross revenue, that are developing Energy Efficiency and Conservation, New and Better Uses of Carbon Dioxide, Methane Reduction, or Cleaner Energy Production and Usage projects.
Eligible projects include advancing pre-commercial technology for GHG reduction with a current Technology Readiness Level from 4-7, and includes prototype development, field pilots, and commercial demonstration projects. Projects may take place anywhere in Canada, but applicants must demonstrate how the proposed project will result in GHG reductions, commercialization, enterprise growth, and economic growth in Alberta and Canada.
Sustainable Development Technology Canada acts as a primary catalyst in building a sustainable development technology industry in Canada, funding and supporting Canadian cleantech projects across a number of sectors. SDTC invests in Canadian companies that through their innovative technologies bring positive contributions to Canada: creating quality jobs, driving economic growth, and preserving our environment. SDTC is a foundation funded by the Government of Canada.
ERA was created by the government of Alberta to support the province in the successful transition to a low carbon future. By developing the next generation of innovative and clean technology, ERA helps Alberta build an open, sustainable and increasingly diversified economy that attracts investment, facilitates diversification, expands market access and delivers improved environmental outcomes.
